PANE IN THE GLASS PRODUCTIONS

 ODE TO TELEVISION PREACHERS

Bouncing balls and fire ants
And secret codes that sing,
Bottle caps and circus clowns
And bumblebees that sting.

Reason mixed with falsehoods
Line the baking dish;
Lemon juice and firecrackers
Sprinkled on the fish,

Candy canes and spinach,
Pickles and champagne,
What a tasty menu,
For somebody’s campaign.

Cinnamon and coffee,
Not a secret blend,
But served with sarsaparilla,
Won’t make you any friends.

Plastic straw and pitchforks
Plastered on the wall
Make for fine wallpaper
In the ass’s stall.

Order and conformity,
Dressed in hobo rags,
Living in a penthouse,
Made up of shopping bags.

The world’s an insane place
For crazy people, who
Profess to being geniuses
While sucking a cashew.
